Phoenix

Electricians in Phoenix, AZ

Phoenix is a big city with very different houses from one neighborhood to the next. A 1930s home in Willo or Encanto-Palmcroft may still have original circuits with no ground wire.

Electrical work in Phoenix

A 1970s ranch in Maryvale or Moon Valley may have a panel brand that inspectors flag. A 2020 build in Laveen or North Gateway usually has plenty of capacity but builder-grade fixtures and devices.

We work across all of it, and we pull City of Phoenix permits for the work that needs one. That covers panel and service upgrades, new circuits, EV chargers, rewiring and most anything that goes behind a wall.

Phoenix has everything from 1920s bungalows in the historic districts to 1960s ranch homes and brand-new builds at the north and south edges of the city.

Older wiring in the historic districts

Central Phoenix has dozens of historic districts, and many of those homes have been rewired in pieces over the decades. It is common to find two-prong outlets with no ground, cloth-insulated wire, and newer circuits spliced into old ones.

We can rewire a historic home in stages and fish new wire through plaster and lath with as little patching as possible. If you are in a designated district and the work touches the outside of the house, we will tell you before we start whether historic preservation review applies.

Summer load on Phoenix homes

From June through September the AC runs almost nonstop, and every weak spot in a home electrical system shows up. Breakers trip, connections at the panel heat up, and outlets on overloaded circuits get warm.

Most of the summer calls we take in Phoenix come down to three things: a worn-out breaker, a loose connection, or a circuit carrying more than it was designed for. All three are fixable, and none of them should be ignored.

EV chargers and solar in newer neighborhoods

In newer parts of Phoenix like North Gateway, Desert Ridge and Laveen, most of our work is adding to homes built since the mid-1990s: Level 2 EV chargers, battery backup, dedicated circuits for garage freezers and shop tools, and panel upgrades for solar.

Common problems

Before you hire anyone

Before anyone opens your panel, check for:

  • An active Arizona ROC license in the right class (R-11, C-11 or CR-11)
  • Proof of liability insurance and workers comp
  • A written quote with the scope and the price
  • A permit for work that needs one, pulled by the contractor for your address
  • No large cash deposit before materials are bought

Questions from Phoenix homeowners

Do you work on older homes in Phoenix historic districts?

Yes. We rewire and upgrade 1920s through 1950s homes in districts like Willo, Encanto-Palmcroft and Coronado, and we plan the work to protect original plaster and trim where we can.

Is my Phoenix home on APS or SRP?

It depends on the address. Check the name on your electric bill. We work with both utilities and coordinate any disconnect, reconnect or meter work for you.

Do I need a City of Phoenix permit for electrical work?

Most work beyond swapping a fixture or a device needs one, including new circuits, panel changes and EV chargers. We pull the permit and schedule the inspection.
